The Forestville Pregnancy Center is committed to providing a compassionate, non-judgmental environment for women who are uncertain about their pregnancies. Each woman is offered information and counseling to help her weigh the short and long-term effects of each option.

Pregnancy Tests

We use a highly sensitive urine pregnancy test that detects the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). HCG is a hormone that is normally produced by the placenta and is an excellent marker for confirming pregnancy. You do not need to bring in a urine sample nor do you need to provide a morning sample. We have a facility for you to provide a sample at our center. It is recommended that you wait for a "missed period" before taking a pregnancy test so that an adequate amount of HCG is present.

                                             Viability Sonograms

We provide free sonograms for clients when medically indicated for pregnancy viability. We have sonography equipment which allows us to provide a sonogram as early as 8 weeks after conception. If you are considering an abortion, it is important to determine if you have a viable pregnancy. A viable pregnancy means one that is capable of continuing on its own. Approximately 30% of all pregnancies result in a miscarriage. An abortion performed when a pregnancy is not viable can result in unnecessary physical and emotional trauma and unnecessary expense. Many crisis pregnancy centers, such as ours, offer sonograms free of charge to determine viability if you are considering abortion. 

                                           Pregnancy Counseling

Facing an unplanned pregnancy can be difficult and stressful. It is a time to make many difficult choices and decisions. It can be tempting to find a quick fix and not seek information on options available because thinking about the choices is painful. It may also be difficult if you do not have someone to help you look at these decisions. We have trained counselors who can help you in these uncertain times. We offer information on parenting, finances, breaking the news, looking into adoption, and discussing the risks of abortion. We also provide counseling services to men who are facing this crisis with their partner. Supporting you is important to us.

Post-Abortion Counseling

Sometime, somewhere, you may have been involved in an abortion - maybe more than one. Perhaps you are the mother or father. Since then, you haven’t been able to forgive yourself. You may be feeling pain, loneliness, or emptiness. Maybe you feel confused or isolated. You think you are the only one who has these feelings. Maybe you just don’t "feel" anymore. Project Rachel can help you deal with the pain of abortion through counseling and support groups. Call 202-269-HOPE to start on your road to recovery. Your call will be treated with complete confidentiality. We also offer a post-abortion bible study twice a year.

Material Assistance

If you are facing an unplanned pregnancy, finances can be stressful. We try to help you with some basic needs while helping you prepare for becoming a parent. The items that we may have available include cribs, maternity and infant clothing, formula and diapers. We will also provide you with referrals for other needs.
